PALAKKAD: In an unprecedented high temperature of over 40 degrees Celsius experienced in the district for the last two weeks, five persons were admitted to a hospital at Pathiripala, near here, with sunburns on Wednesday. The Health Department which confirmed the sunburn incident after examining the five persons issued a warning to the people in the wake of the rise in temperature in the district. Four taxi drivers and a vegetable vendor who were exposed to the sun suffered burns on the backside of their shoulder. The taxi drivers who went to take bath at a nearby river in the afternoon found that they were having burns on their back and swelling.
